Handicap Stair Lifts Adapted for the Disabled Home Owner

How would have this worked out for all if the government would've taken charge of the situation?

So I was watching TV in my underwear (at Bestbuy) and decided to flip to Nat Geo. They had a show on called "Biker Chicks" where they did a run-down on what life was like for women who ride with the biker gangs. One biker had a child who had a sports-related injury where he ended up being paralyzed. Bikers from the MC decided to go ahead and put on some fundraisers to help out the family of the poor kid and raised over a hundred thousand dollars in just two weeks. With that money, the family built a ramp on the front porch, a lift that will take him up stairs, equipped his room for a handicapped child and completely re-modeled the bathroom.

Let's say that these people weren't innovative enough to try to do this themselves and rely on the government.

How much would have it cost for taxpayers and how long would have it taken to do exactly what these people did?

Well, all of these things done, built, etc... and their timeliness would depend on what type of insurance the family had, if any. If they had none, the kid would first go through awhile getting approved for Medicaid then a couple years getting approval for everything else.
