Handicap Mobility Scooter
HELP! my coworkers are being very mean toward me and my mobility scooter?
HELPS ME OUT! ok? i just got a new mobility scoot to helps me get arounds town due to my large 6'5" 200 llb frame. i am not a handicapped as i am only 43 years old, i just dont enjoy to walk very oftens and unnecessarily so i inquired about a mobility scoot and purchased a new one to helps me transport around town and the offices. The office i am at is not very acomoding to mobility scoots and they are making it very difficulted for me to gets up on the elevate and scoots around my cubby and to the bathrooms. I have removed my officed chair to make room for my mobility scoot but i still find it very cramped and so does my cubby cube mate. Helps me out, how can i get the offices to be more acceptable toward my mobility scoot and my personal preferences?
Well, your in an office. I can't imagine that your office is so big that after sitting in your chair for 75% of the day, that you can't get up and walk to the bathroom or stand on the elevator. In fact, I'm guessing its not since you have problems getting the large scooter in the small spaces. Your not that big of a woman, very tall yes, but your weight is not seriously heavy for your height. And you are only 43 years old. What do you expect from these people? Can you please explain why you just don't feel like walking around? Do you have arthritis? Knee problems? Anything that actually makes walking difficult, or you just feel like being lazy because you are tall? Maybe just leave it in the car for the mall or something, walk around the office. If you keep this up, you won't be able to put weight on your legs in much longer and you will then be seriously overweight for your height. You should really put some more thought into this situation. Walking is not an unnecessary thing, it keeps our bodies healthy. Don't you want to be healthy? Or do you want to be bedridden by the time you are 60?? Aren't your kids only teenagers still? Don't you want to enjoy life with them? Right now there is nothing preventing you from doing just that, but stay on the track you are on, and you'll never live to welcome grandchildren into this world.

Is morbid obesity considered a handicap? There are at least two people at work who use these scooters provided
for them at the company's expense. I always assumed that they had something like MS or some other mobility limiting illness. As it turns out, it's just because they're obese. Not that it's really my business, but....
it came up because I've been on crutches with a broken ankle, and the security guy said that if I got tired of hobbling around, they could buy me a scooter. I was shocked, and he said
It's sad that we make it easier to be extremely fat these days. I don't want to see them layiing in bed for the rest of their lives even though they did it to theirselves...but come on a scooter for work or grocery shopping, special seats on airplanes theatres.

I wouldn't be so mad but i've seen old couples or people in cruches who would really benefit for having the special mobility option, the ones who couldn't control their handicap, be stuck because this fat couple took the only 2 scooters available at this store so they had to go some place else. The fat ones do it themselves so they shouldn't get special treament. Unless it's medically proven they suffer from thyroidism before thy got fat and wasn't from over eating and laziness!
