Handicap Lift Van
How would one go to start a trust or charity to pursue to get a handicapped van??
We are tring to raise money for my god-daughter who palsy and seizures disorder. With a equipped van we would be able to take her out more often and it would be easier on our backs etc . The van would have a roll on ramp or lift. We are going to start doing fund raisers and need a place to put the money for it to accumilate.
And those that donate will see that it is not for profit it is strictly for the purchase of a handicapped van. Do we just set-up a checking account or are there alot of changes we wil have to go through??
Be aware that if you start fundraisers, you may have to register as a charity with your state government.
I think the most effective way that you could money and prove that this case is legitimate would be to try to get a story in your local newspaper. Local newspapers are often looking for human interest stories about the community. Also, contact a local auto dealer who has the type of van that you want. They may be able to give you a special price on it.
You will need to set up a separate bank account for donations. Speak with the branch manager of your local bank to see how the best (and legal!) way to do this is.
If your question here is sincere, and the you really want to get a van for your sod-daughter, then you need to follow the proper procedures. If you don't you may end up facing fraud charges, tax evasion, etc.

What Handicapped accessible van would you buy?
I am looking to purchase a handicapped accessible van and was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what is the best out there for the $$. I am in a power chair so, I will need everything powered (e.g lift and door, hand controls and pwr lock down for chair) I have two children too!
the buick rendevous has a really nice van, my neighbor has one and my uncle is thinking of buying one cuz its so nice.
