Gel Battery Electric
Can a lead acid Gel Battery be charged on a regular 12v charger or do you need a special charger for the gel?
Just trying bring up my amp hrs on my electric trike. Thanks
I have a 12v motor on the Bike 12v battery and a 12 volt charger. The battery says that you should only use chargers for led acid gel batteries but I figured it may just be a marketing scheme.
Gel cells can't be equalized like flooded batteries, since you can't add water to make up for the loss.
Gel cell batteries should be charged slower [1/20th the capacity in amp hours] and the final voltage no higher than about 13.8 to avoid gassing.

Don't let them sit discharged either, since that leads to sulfating.
I have a 24v Curry eBike from Walmart. The charger that comes with it is supposed to shut off automatically, but it doesn't always. The bike came with AGM lead acid, which is almost the same as gelled.
You need to watch the voltage. If the vent pops, the battery is toast. Once it vents you lost water.

I need technical help with my inflatable boat?
I have recently acquired a second hand Aquapro SLR inflatable (2 meters from transom to outside the bow) and want to use it in the estuaries to fish and get mud crabs. It has no engine and I would appreciate it if you could advise me on what type of electric motor I should use and size.
Also, due to the size, I believe there is now a flat gel type battery similar to a petrol "bag".
As I am a pensioner I would prefer second hand if you do have something, or if that's not the way to go, then what petrol engine would be best?
I am also looking for used/new Aquapro parts:
3 x hand grips
1 x complete housing for the oar
1 x " oar strap
2 x oars
