Are there any Telephone Line Technicians out there?
I’m building a small electric vehicle and it needs power. The way I figure it all phone lines should have a battery backup system in case of a power outage. And if so they would most likely be 12V gel cell type. The kind I need. Which also means they would most likely replace them on a regular bases.
Since I’m trying to build this EV with as much recycled material as possible I’d like to get my hands on some of them batteries.
So if you are a Line Technician or know how I could contact one please leave your information in the form of an Answer. Phone number would be great.

Reduce Reuse Recycle
Telephone central offices contain switching and transmission equipment, which are powered by -48 Volts DC. The -ve polarity accommodates corrosion at sacrificial anodes in the CO basement. The batteries in these buildings are 48 volt and are usually large wet cells.
Likewise, most radio systems are 24 volts.
Used car batteries (ie 12 volt) might be your best option, if you can contain them in a spill-proof case.

If a battery reads on the side 7ah/20h does that make it a 140 amphere battery?
Im confused! I want to use my gel cell small light weight 12 volt 7ah/20h battery for my 45 amp electric outbord if my calculations are correct then 7ah multiplyed by 20hour equals 140 amphere battery,and if my electric outboard draws constint 45 amps than my 7ah/20h battery should last 3.11 hours (45amps divide 20 hours) equals 3.11 hours (AM I CORRECT IF NOT WHY) THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP...
t= 7x20 /45=3.1 confirmed in rough theory that is.
However it is not that simple.
Since you do not know the rating of the battery at higher current levels. Look at the discharge curves for that specific battery.
