I'm building a custom 1998 isuzu rodeo, and i belive my parts list is just what i need,?
to build a truly special one of a kind mercedes 4x4,its a 4 door 98 rodeo perfect body 2wD to start with,removing anything that says isuzu,then putting a set of 1985 toyota 4x4 axles 513 gears -truck will be powered by a mercedes 240D 4CYL INLINE DIESEL w-custom made aluminum plate to allow me to mount the toyota 5 speed & transfur case,truck will run a set of 35x1250 -15 tires on alcoa wheels, w-4 inch lift, the plan is to have a factory looking truck with plasma cut mercedes congo badges inside out and all the best parts, my question is on my choice of 513 gearing is it low enough for the mercedes inline none turbo 4cyl Diesel motor ,its a very reliable engine, but my gearing needs to be a very good match, this machine must be built to last, driving to lower mexico and back many times, thanks for any help on this.

How can I build a go kart from a few old bikes?
What I have for old bikes:
Two single speed bikes with 20" tires
One 21 speed bike with 22" tires
Two 21 speed bikes with 26" tires
I want to build either a gokart or motor trike from these bikes, and I have access to frame materials and a welder. All of the rear tires of these bikes have (a) gear(s) attached to them, but will a 6hp engine be able to use the bicycle chain gears? It will be a one seater, for a (5'3" 105lb) rider and a (6'1" 200lb) rider. So, any ideas on how I can make this happen?
Use the rear parts from the two 21speeds, slice them on opposite sides (just use one side rail from either side and when you join them, make sure they're on the outside). Then join them with parts of the cross members cut and fit. You may have to slice up the two single speed bikes if you need extra tubing (I'm pretty sure you will),
Use the front fork and wheel from the third 21speed; cut the frame just behind the seat post. I think the chain will hold up, although you're probably going to have to get rid of the gears, since 21 is far too many to comfortably handle.
Make a motor mount from some quarter-inch plate, measure the distance from the gear sprockets to the engine. Don't forget to tie the two rear frames together with a cross piece and an axle, since that will be the location where the engine to drive connection will be made (it has to be just slightly off center). Weld the sprocket to the axle you've made, mount the wheels (without the gears). Weld the front end to the rear at a convenient, ergonomic and esthetically pleasing location.
Install a clutch release lever on the left handlebar and a brake on the other handlebar; use front brakes only (I'd install double disks if I were doing it). Fire it up and drive carefully! Have fun! Good luck!
