hi every one
i am dreaming of a cottage home to build for my wife before we get married . i dont have too much money i want a basic cheap cottage home i just want a cottage 2 bedroom and 2 badroom i want a two floor cottage home upstair my bedroom and one rest room and down stair my liveing room , my kictuen and one restroom i just want a middiem size home .

It depends on how elaborate you want to go with the details. Generally you can build a house as cheap as $50-$60 a square foot. I just built a custom home myself and did not cut any corners--I was however a savvy shopper but didn't sacrifice the look I wanted and we averaged spending around $100-$110 a square foot.

My retractable attic stairs
unusual extension idea?
i want to build an extension on my house. i have a driveway that i want my extension to extend over. so that it is kinda on stilts off the driveway, the driveway is not wide enough to take a full width garage and i would prefer it to be like a car port. to access this extension a door would be placed at the top of the stairs at the site of an existing window anyhow my question is,
is there any legal reasons in both planning and construction law to prevent the building of such a structure?
also. how much, without electrical and plumbing? "i can do that"

You would generally need planning permission for this type of project. If you are building an extension over 4.0metres high within 2.0metres of a boundary you would need planning permisson.
Take a photograph of your house and take it to the council. Speak to the duty officer at the planning department and he/she should be able to advise you whether of not approval could be considered. Many councils will ask that a first floor side extension be set in 1.0metre from the boundary with your neighbour. If the gap between the houses is narrow you might find you have a problem.
Once you have obtained planning approval you would then need to submit a building regulations application which should show all of the structural and building details.
