Folding Rehab

Is my mom snorting something?
The other day I found a grinder with white powder residue in it in my moms closet. I assumed it was either ground up pills or cocaine.I also found razor blades and some weird bits of folded up paper in plastic bags. At first I didn't think anything about the paper but now i realize they might have been holding something. I'm afraid to open them because I'll never be able to fold them back up. She is an alcoholic and has been in and out of rehab since i was born. She swears she isn't drinking and i believe her. I know she smokes marijuana but I'm not worried about that. She also has been falling asleep randomly. If anyone can tell me what to do or what she is doing it would help alot. Thanks
I'm sorry to hear about your mum, but she does definitely use drugs, there are clear indicating signs. The white powder can be almost anything, not just coke. If she falls 'asleep' randomly, I think she may be into pharmaceutical opiates, i.e like oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc. The 'falling asleep' is not what you think; if she takes high enough doses then she is nodding out, a phrase referring to a mental state when under the influence of opiates. However, if you're certain that she is definitely asleep at those times, she might be using some sort of a stimulant, like you said, coke or amphetamines as the comedown comes with a lot of sleepiness/tiredness. Unfortunately it's hard to tell which one.
The indications that your mother is using stimulants:
- large pupils
- unreasonbale agitation, excitableness
- slurred speech
- high productivity
The indications that she uses opiates:
- pupil constriction [pinhead pupils]
- calm, mellow mood
- slow speech, trouble with short term memory
This is what you can tell as an outsider. Hope this helps. As on what you can do for her, I'm not sure, it may be a good idea to confront her about it. It's terrible that you have go through this. Good luck.

WHERE'D YOU GO CHAPTER 26
My Mom had a stroke last week and is still in hospital she had a?
stroke that effected her right side. I am so sad she has been crying. It hurts me so. My question is two fold. She says she doesn't want to stay in hospital after 3 days. I spoke to her Doctor today and he said she will be off to Rehab for 10 days. My Mom is on a fixed income with medicare and they only pay 80% she is worried about that It made her blood pressure go up. Also she left a durable health directive) NO POWER OF ATTORNEY for finances what do, her bills still need to get paid
and I work Part-time.Any suggestions help.......
I am so sorry about your Mom - unfortunately I am an expert in strokes. You need to talk to the social worker at the hospital. There are many programs that can help your Mom. Plus Medicare part A pays a fixed amount for a hospital stay - staying longer as an inpatient will not cost her more money. Get the social worker to help you apply for Medicaid for her right away - in some states it will go retroactive to the stroke date and it will cover everything that Medicare does not. Also, Medicare pays 100% for home health care that includes physical, occupational, speech therapies and nursing. There is a lot of help available - you have to ask for it.
