why air filled tiers & tubes used in vehicles not solid tiers?
Solid tires need more material to make, which makes them more expensive and heavier,and the increased weight makes them less fuel efficient.

A pool filled with non-newtonian fluid
I have a water softener, the tank is filled solid with salt pellets, shouldn't it nave only a few inches?
Why is it packed solid with pellets?
You can fill it all the way to the top.
It is just a storage for unused salt.
Peek down inside the tube that is inside and you
should see about 6-10 inches of Brine (Salt Water)in the bottom. As long as the unit is slowly consuming the salt as it regenerates, it is probably working fine.
