Electric Wheelchair Wheels Quadriplegic friend of mine needs help ? Where do I turn for them?
I have a friend who broke his neck jumping from a tree into the creek. He can barley operate the electric control knob on his electric wheelchair. Thank God that America supplys him a wheelchair but he and his little wife have it bad bad bad. Surley there is somewhere I could call and give their names. Some cloths, hotwater heater and a wheel chair ramp out of thier small trailer.
Step by step.
First make sure that he has applied for SS and medicare.
Second, call or do an Internet search for their town/county social services department. Find out what services they offer and if your friend qualifies.
Then join the yahoo group freecycle for your town and theirs and post wanted ads (for free) for the things they need (free).
Then contact the local food pantries and get him applied there.
Then find a local church (to them) and call and ask if there is anyway to get them some help with volunteers or volunteer services.
You do all of that and help as much as you can and things will get better for them.
