Nuclear Process Heat Transfer for Hydrogen Production $109.93 There are several options to transferring multimegawatt thermal power over long distances. One option is simply to produce only electricity, transfer by wire to the hydrogen plant, and then reconvert the electric energy to heat via Joule or induction heating. Electrical transport, however, suffers energy losses of 6070 due to the thermal to electric conversion inherent in the Brayton cycle. Another option is twophase heat transfer utilizing a high temperature thermosyphon. Heat transport occurs via evaporation and condensation, and the heat transport fluid is recirculated by gravitational force. Thermosyphon has the capability to transport heat at high rates over appreciable distances, virtually isothermally and without any requirement for external pumping devices. The research presented provides useful information for thermosyphon design and Spiral Heat Exchanger. This research provides useful insight in making decisions regarding the thermosyphon heat transfer system between the nuclear reactor and chemical plant. Development of very hightemperature reactor technologies is a high priority research for a successful national energy future. Power Transfer on Multiport Fiber Coupling $114.71 Fiber coupler is a great utilization to combine and to split one or more optical power input and outputs. Power transfer in fiber coupler depends on the geometry of the waveguides and the coupling coefficient. Power transfers between the waveguides are calculated using matrix transfer method. By introducing power input to the one of the waveguides, assuming cross section, power propagation, and fiber axis are held constants at coupling constant coupling coefficient, it shows that coupling length of NX2, linear order NX3, and triangular NX3 fiber couplers are oddmultiple of z= /(2 ), z= /(( 2) ), z= /((2 2) ). The calculation of power has been shown in 3D of coupling coefficient from 0.11.5/mm . It describes that the higher the coupling coefficient, the shorter the coupling length or phase required to transfer power completely to the other waveguides. The minimum coupling length or phase of NX2 and NX3 shows that the coupling length of linear order NX3 is larger with a factor 2 than the coupling length of NX2. However, the coupling length of triangular order NX3 is shorter with a factor 1/ 2 than the coupling length of NX2 fiber couplers.
