What would duty charges cost on a $45 netbook battery sent from China to the US?
I'm wanting to get a netbook battery from an ebay seller in china sent to the US and am wondering what sort of charges that would get should it get picked up by customs... I have been to the US customs website but can't figure it out and would appreciate some help 
Here's a link to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule: http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/bychapter/index.htm . It's what Customs uses to assess duties.
If the shipment lands at a port of entry in your home state, Customs may also collect the sales tax for your state.
If any duties or taxes are collected, there will be a brokerage fee on top of duties and taxes. Most shipping companies self-broker but fees vary widely. The brokerage fee can easily exceed the value of the goods. The US Postal Service generally has the lowest brokerage fee (a flat $5 on most shipments and is often waived) and also tends to let more shipments slide through without any duties at all. FedEx and UPS may charge $25 to $50 for the brokerage fee alone.

Can computer power charge my battery?
I want to know if I can use a power supply from a computer and modify it (if needed) to charge a heavy duty UPS battery since batteries in the region of high amp/hours need about 5 amps to be charged and a computer power supply can go to approx. 25-50 amps at 12 volts. If you know of a circuit that shows specific parts and construction of itself please leave a link for me!
You will need to modify the output voltage to be around 13.5 to 13.8 Volts, which is the Float voltage. Typical computer power supply can put out lots of juice, i.e.
* +3.3V: 30A
* +5V: 36A
* +12V: 25A
* -5V: 0.5A
* -12V: 0.8A
* +5VSB: 2A
