Drive Sentra
2000 Nissan Sentra leaking trans. fluid, but level is normal. What do I do? Is it okay to drive it?
After it sits for several hours, I notice a pink puddle on the pavement. I just noticed a couple days ago. Could it be a gasket? How do I figure out where it's coming from?
It is coming from the transmission. The power steering fluid is on the other side of the car, and it's brown, not pink.
The first place to check for leaks would be around your transmission pan. Place a white rag under the transmission pan (directly under the transmission which sits transversely across a sentra's frame under and slightly behind the engine). These gaskets are prone to leak after age and use, or after the bolts holding the pan are over-tightened. If it is leaking form this location a bottle of lucas tranmission-fix will often seal the leak as well as clean the transmission (available at your local auto-parts store). If this does not solve the problem a transmission filter kit can be purchase which will give you this gasket and instructions by which to replace it. If this is not where the leak is coming from it may also leak from the transmissions torque converter seal which is typically located on the left side of the transmission relative to a passenger sitting in the vehicle (right side of the tranny relative to the front of the car.) This seal is located between the curved side of the tranny case (where the torque converter resides) and the relatively square part of the main transmission body. I will post a general link to a chrylser tranny - not particularly your tranny as I don't have the model of tranny in your vehicle.

1-2 shift @ 13-15 mph
2-3 shift @ 23-25 mph
3-4 shift @ 33-40 mph
4-5 shift @ 39-45 mph
pre-conditioning requirements
check engine light must be off
ect must be below 122 deg f
procedure:
1) idle engine until ect is above 160 deg f
2) start timer, idle for 1 1/2 min
3) accelerate gradually to 56 mph (a/t in drive with overdrive on). coast for ten seconds
4) accelerate and drive at a steady speed between 53 and 56 mph 10 min
5) stop and idle for 20 sec
6) accelerate to 25 mph in about 10 sec. hold accelerator steady for 20 sec
7) repeat steps 5 and 6 eight times
accelerate and drive at a steady speed between 53 and 56 mph for 6 min
maintain accelerator pedal setting, not vehicle speed.
