How to get over the fear of blood?
When i was about 12 i decided that i wanted to be a surgeon. I always get really excited when I talk about surgery and medical stuff. However, today in my health class we watched the drunk driving movie and it showed alot of graphic images of people being treated for accidents-like really serious accidents. I thought i would be fine with it but i started to feel really hot. Then when i got up to go to the nurses i collapsed. I never even knew that i had a fear of blood and now that i may have that fear i want to correct it ASAP especially since after 4 years of putting all my work into something i dont want to change it from some stupid set back. PLEASE HELPP!!!!!
Hey. You'll find that the more you expose yourself to images of that nature, the less it will mean to you and the quicker you'll get over your phobia. I dont mean purposely going out of your way to look at people bleeding! I mean, the more you start exploring what a career in surgery involves, the more you'll realise that blood is just something thats there, it has no meaning other than it comes out of blood vessels and is necessary to survive! Its about relabelling your phobia, turn it into something constructive. Everyone has an innate 'fear' of blood because we've learnt from experience that when blood comes out, we're hurt. Or when we get hurt, blood comes out, or bleeding = death. When you start seeing surgery its natural to fear bleeding too because we know its bad, and we need to stop it. Thats a good thing! Once you see blood enough times you'll banish all ideas which cause fear and they'll be replaced with the important questions such as "what caused it?", "where is it coming from?" and "where is my suture kit?". Not "omg its blood, ewwww, she's bleeding, she's hurt oh no, oh god its everywhere, this is bad!!" lol i may have went overboard in the last bit
Good look you'll be fine. You sound like you have the enthusiasm and passion to get you far, and certainly enough to overcome some little fear of blood.

Medical Image Segmentation $135.42 Image segmentation is an essential step in many advanced imaging applications, e.g., object tracking, pattern recognition, volume measurements, medical image analysis, and in the image guided procedures. Among the several types of images, magnetic resonance images (MRI), which represent the intensity variation of radio waves generated by biological systems when exposed to radio frequency pulses, have proved to be an effective imaging modality for imaging the inner tissues of the human. In this work, we have introduce new multiresolution algorithms for image segmentation that extend the wellknown Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm. The conventional EM algorithm has prevailed many other segmentation algorithms because of its simplicity and performance. However, it is found to be highly sensitive to noise. Multiresolution analysis has been used in order to take into account the effect of neighborhood pixels in the classification process to minimizes the sensitivity to noise. Different data sets were used to measure the performance of the proposed algorithms. The results show that the performance of the proposed algorithms has much increased over the conventional EM.
