Door Van Ramp Cleaning Door sensors on '98 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan with an Braun Entervan conversion which is having the following issue:
When i hit a bump the "Door Ajar" light flickers on the dash then the door locks attempt to engage each time i press the accelorator. I have checked all underdash fuses and all are seated and not blown.
The door in question seems to be the door with the ramp conversion on it. If i stop the van, place it in park (only way to open and close ramp door), open and close the door the issue goes away until i hit another significant bump.
i belive it's a sensor some place but where is the sensor in question and what is the best way to clean the sensor contacts?
Also how can i test to determine which sensor is actually bad?
Thanks!
Funny you mention all those things occur bec my Dodge does that too but only when I've this one main comp=ECM installed , if I change the ECM the system doesn't do it anymore.
Tell me does it start to happen around 60kms an hr the door locks and interior lights seem to go haywire , lites go brite then duller , and the locks keep clicking? If so if I were you I'd go to a big do it yourself auto wreckers and try finding a vehicle like yours with all the same features and remove the ECM from it.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it could be a relay or bad ground causing the problem but it sounds like a bad ECM to me.You could check and change the main grounds that link all the comps together the wire is usually bare metal flat wire that is used for these main grounds by the way.
