Interbank Network
An interbank network, also known as an ATM consortium or ATM network, is a computer network that connects the ATMs of different banks and permits these ATMs to interact with the ATM cards of non-native banks.
While interbank networks provide capabilities for all ATM cards within the same network to use other banks' ATMs that belong to the same network, the services vary. For instance, when a person uses their ATM card at an ATM that does not belong to their bank, the basic services, such as balance inquiries and withdrawals, are usually available. However, special services, such as the purchase of mobile phone airtime, are usually not accessible to ATM cardholders of banks other than the ATM cardholders of the acquirer (the bank that owns the ATM). Furthermore, many banks will charge a fee to users of cards that do not come from their own bank (in addition to any fees imposed by the bank of the card the person is using).
Difference Between Plus or Cirrus
PLUS (also known as Visa PLUS) is an interbank network that covers all VISA credit, debit, and prepaid cards, as well as ATM cards issued by various banks worldwide. Currently, there are one million PLUS-linked ATMs in 170 countries worldwide.
PLUS cards can be linked in the following ways: as a standalone network, linked with a local interbank network and/or linked with any Visa product displaying the Visa flag on the front (Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Delta and Visa Electron). Currently, there are 144 million proprietary PLUS cards, not including a number of cards which have PLUS as a secondary network.
PLUS is widely used as a local interbank network in places such as the United States and Canada, where networks such as STAR, NYCE and Pulse in the United States and Interac in Canada also compete. In places such as India and Indonesia, this is also the case wherein there are many interbank networks. The main competitor of PLUS is Cirrus, which is offered by Visa rival MasterCard.
Cirrus is a worldwide interbank network operated by MasterCard Worldwide, and was founded in 1986. It links MasterCard, Maestro, Diners Club credit, debit and prepaid cards to a network of over 1,000,000 ATMs in 93 countries.
Maestro cards are, by default, linked to the Cirrus network, but very often, all three logotypes of the MasterCard family will be shown: MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus. Canadian, American and Saudi Arabian ATMs use this network alongside their local networks, and many banks have adopted Cirrus as their international interbank network alongside either a local network, the rival Visa PLUS ATM network, or both. In locations such as India and Bangladesh, the Cirrus network also serves as a local interbank network as well as an international network.
Interbank networks are convenient because people can access the ATMs of other banks who are members of the network when their own bank's ATM is unavailable. Such is especially convenient for travelers traveling abroad, where multinational interbank networks, like PLUS or Cirrus, are usually available.

can i use this card to pay for world of warcraft?
i have a RBS debit card/ savings/ bank card thing, and it doesn't have visa or mastercard or anything on it anywhere, just says PLUS in the bottom right hand corner, does this mean i can't use it for world of warcraft subscriptions.
the reason why i asked is that they jst sent me a replacement card recently and the old one sed Cirrus, but i never got round to using it, so don't know if that would have worked either anyway.
