Hope someone could advise if a local ATM card can be used in Europe eg Switzerland and France. Is it more common to see Plus or Cirrus?
Local PIN uses 6 digits. Do ATM overseas accept 6 digit PIN or do we have to change the PIN before using it overseas? How do we do so?

Look at your card. If it's a Visa Debit, it probably has the Plus logo; if it's a MasterCard, it would have the Cirrus logo. Once you insert a card into an overseas ATM, the PIN is validated by the issuer here in the US. But, CALL YOUR ISSUER before you leave so that they annotate your account that you are traveling, otherwise the transaction might be declined becasue the transaction does not match your typical spending pattern.
Having said that, buy some travelers cheques before you go just in case.
