Chair Great Shape

is there certain living room furniture that is more kid friendly than others, we R going shopping this weekend?

for all new furniture in the living room right now we have white suede furniture so we are getting rid of it as we have a 7 month old baby, but

i'm wondering when shopping do we look for anything, ex, certain colors, textures, shapes, etc, for instance dark brown leather

p.s. we will be getting everything, sofa, love seat, chairs, coffee table, thank you.

The fabric on our sofas is similar to this, only in green (zoom in for a close look at the texture):

It has held up wonderfully! We have 2 kids (with lots of friends), plus a dog and 3 cats, and these sofas still look brand new after 5 years. The texture and the darker color hide spills and stains very well - and it's very sturdy - no rips or tears. Sooo much better than the leather and smooth fabric couches we've had in the past.

One thing we learned early on: when you have kids, it's better to get inexpensive furniture, that you can replace as often as necessary, than to invest in expensive "high quality" furniture that you'll be sick about if it gets ruined. Especially with much-used items. No matter how much you pay for a coffee table, it's going to be scratched or chipped in a matter of months. The one we have now cost about $100 - and this is the 3rd one I've had. When it starts looking ratty, I just go get another one of the same kind. No biggie. If I'd paid $500 or $600 for it, I'd still have the same one, all scratched and wrecked. There will be plenty of time to have "nice" furniture once my kids are older and grown.
