Chair Automobile Car

physics Newton's Laws question please help?
In the design process for a child-restraint chair, an engineer considers the followign set of conditions: A 12 kg child is riding in the chair, which is securely fastened to the seat of an automobile. Assue the automobile is involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. The initial speed Vo of the car is 45km/h, and this speed is reduced to zero durign the collision time of 0.20s. Assume a constant car decelearion during the collision and estimate the net horizontal force F that the straps of the restraint chair must exert on the child in order to keep her fixed the the chair, Treat the child as a particle and state any additional assumptions made during your analysis.
Please show work in details thanks!
Dan thank you for mentioning the free body diagram
we haven't learn that yet but that shows at least you know what you are talking about
and also the neagtive sign showing direction
thank you
i hope this is right. So by using a free body diagram u can find out that there actually is no force applied, just the force of straps (Fs) on the child because the child is moving at the speed of the car and will keep moving at the original speed of the car (even when the car stops) unless he/she is stopped by an external force (the straps). so
Fneth = Fs = ma
you can find out a by using ur (V2 - V1) / t (0 - 12.5m/s) / 0.20s
now we're trying to figure out Fnet by figuring out Fs and Fs = ma
Fneth = ma Fneth = (12 kg)(-62.5 m/s^2) = -750 N i think u got 2 signifant figures there so -7.5 x 10^2 N.
That's all based on my axis system, maybe on urs it will turn out to be positive. If its wrong im sorry lol
ps. the 12.5 m/s came from 45 km/h / 3.6 but u prbly alrdy know that

Automobile $40 Automobile covers the history of the US car industry during its birth and growth from 1896 to 1929. The aim of the game is to make the most money which means making and selling cars. The track around the outside shows the models of cars that can be built. Factories will be placed in these locations going clockwise around the board. You can skip locations by expending additional R and D points. You can have up to three factories in a location how many determines the minimum and maximum number of cars that can be produced there. Cars come in three general types cheap cars for the mass market (brown edging) mid priced cars for the middle class market (blue edging) and premium cars for those with more money than sense (cream edging). Demand for each type varies from turn to turn. Early on in the game demand for mid priced cars will be higher than that for low or high priced cars. In the later turns the demand for low priced cars will rise dramatically while that for high priced cars will g Type: Board Games |

Acadian (Automobile) $92.4 Acadian was a make of automobile produced by General Motors of Canada from 1962 to 1971. The Acadian was introduced so that Canadian PontiacBuick dealers would have a compact model to sell, since the Pontiac Tempest was unavailable in Canada. Plans originally called for the Acadian to be based on the Chevrolet Corvair, which was produced at GMs Oshawa plant; however, the concept was moved to the Chevy II platform to be introduced for 1962. The brand was also offered in Chile, with models built in Arica. Initially, Acadians were retrimmed Chevy IIs, offered as a base model, midpriced Invader and topline Beaumont. While the car used Pontiac styling cues such as a split grille, Acadian was considered a separate make, not a Pontiac model. The Cultural Life of the Automobile (Hardcover) $108.47 From its invention in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century, the automobile crisscrossed the world, completely took over the cities, and became a feature of daily life. Considered basic to the American lifestyle, the car reflected individualism, pragmatism, comfort, and above all modernity. In Latin America, it served as a symbol of distinction, similar to jewelry or fine clothing. In The Cultural Life of the Automobile, Guillermo Giucci focuses on the automobile as an instrument of social change through its "kinetic modernity" and as an embodiment of the tremendous social impact of technology on cultural life. Material culture--how certain objects generate a wide array of cultural responses--has been the focus of much scholarly discussion in recent years. The automobile wrought major changes and inspired images in language, literature, and popular culture. Focusing primarily on Latin America but also covering the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, Giucci examines how the automobile was variously adapted by different cultures and how its use shaped and changed social and economic relationships within them. At the same time, he shows how the "automobilization" of society became an essential support for the development of modern individualism, and the automobile its clearest material manifestation. |

Automobile Politics $279.3 The car, and the range of social and political institutions which sustain its dominance, play an important role in many of the environmental problems faced by contemporary society. But in order to understand the possibilities for moving towards sustainability and `greening cars`, it is first necessary to understand the political forces that have made cars so dominant. This book identifies these forces as a combination of political economy and cultural politics. From the early twentieth century, the car became central to the organization of capitalism and deeply embedded in individual identities, providing people with a source of value and meaning but in a way which was broadly consistent with social imperatives for mobility. Projects for sustainability to reduce the environmental impacts of cars are therefore constrained by these forces but must deal with them in order to shape and achieve their goals. |

Toyota Chair Car
Has anyone else noticed?
that the chairs in the lounges of most automobile dealerships are very uncomfortable? Is it so that when we are waiting for our car to be serviced, we will be uncomfortable and roam the new car showroom and maybe see something we can't live without? I can't believe they are just too stingy to make a comfortable lounge for their customers. Any other ideas?
Wait a minute! You mean your service place has chairs in it? I have to stand in the alley while mine is being serviced in a garage of some home owner! I will ask that a lounge be installed the next time I am there. Or maybe a left over car seat that didn't fit back in..... Goldwing
