Why do I need an abdominal CT scan?
I'm having a battery of tests done to ready myself for bariatric surgery. I had an abdominal ultrasound a few days ago but now they want me to do an abdominal CT Scan. Why? Did they see something troubling during the ultrasound? They did seem to be having problems; a second tech had to basically redo the thing. I haven't had a chance to inquire with the doctor and I'm about to freak-out worrying.
You did not give any info on the tests or if you will be undergoing a Colonoscopy before doing the Bariatric surgery. An Abdominal CT is normally done to check for aneurysyms. You don't give a gender but if male-50yrs or older or female-60yrs or older need to be checked for abdominal aneurysyms If you're younger, they may have seen an enlargement in the Abdominal Aorta or the outlying arteries-Right and Left Illiac arteries. Have the CT and let your surgeon tell you what he or she is looking at. God Bless and Good Luck
